Craters and Chasms on Tethys

A recent tweak to Cassini's trajectory allowed an even closer approach of 1,500 kilometers (930 miles) to the Saturnian moon, Tethys, than originally planned, and yielded unrivaled views of the icy moonís cratered landscape and a look into the gargantuan canyon system called Ithaca Chasma.

Sep 29, 2005: Steep Scarps - This view of Tethysí surface, taken during Cassiniís close approach to the moon on September 24, 2005, reveals an icy land of steep cliffs.
Sep 29, 2005: Old Northern Terrains - The northern polar region of Tethys, seen in this Cassini flyby image, is a ponderously ancient surface.
